Returned ACI

This field contains a one-character Requested Authorization Characteristics Indicator. This indicator provides additional information as to the capabilities of the POS device.

Note: I and P are passed to participating Issuers and returned to Acquirers if not downgraded. Acquirers participating in MasterCard’s Premier Service Program can send the value P in original MasterCard point of service transactions. This value is forwarded to MasterCard in its DE48.90.

Returned ACI: Contains a one-character Requested Authorization Characteristics Indicator. This indicator provides additional information as to the capabilities of the POS device.

If the transaction being settled was authorized online, this field must contain the value used in that authorization request.
If the transaction is a credit or was otherwise processed offline, this field should be defaulted to Y with the exception of checks, which default to N. This is a code used by the Endpoint to request CPS qualification.
