RB 654 - Merchant name contains spaces, illegal characters, or leading spaces

Merchant Name is a 25-character, alphanumeric field that is left-justified and space-filled. The first alphanumeric position must contain a valid alphanumeric value and cannot contain a space. This field prints on the customer receipt. The system validates the data element type of this field.

Possible Causes

Solutions

Incorrect merchant name in the download file.
  1. Correct the merchant name and retain the batch.
  2. Perform a partial download and re-transmit the batch.

The terminal data for this field may be corrupt.

Verify the merchant name in the terminal.

  • If valid, retain the batch and re-transmit.
  • If invalid, correct the merchant name in the terminal and re-transmit.
