RB P09 - Card acceptor data, merchant name, location/city, or state contains either a space in the first character positions, invalid state abbreviation, or incorrect

Merchant Name, Location/City, or State is a 40-character, alphanumeric field containing information for three sub-fields. All sub-fields are left-justified with space fill. The characters in these fields must correspond to the characters printed on the customer receipt.

Incorrect Card Acceptor Data, Merchant Name, Location/City, or State in the download file.

Correct the Card Acceptor Data, Merchant Name, Location/City, or State and retain the batch.
Perform a partial download and re-transmit the batch.

The terminal data for this field may be corrupt.

Verify the Card Acceptor Data, Merchant Name, Location/City, or State in the terminal.

If valid, retain the batch and re-transmit.
If invalid, correct the Card Acceptor Data, Merchant Name, Location/City, or State in the terminal and re-transmit.

The system validates the data element type of the Merchant Name, Location/City, or State field.
Merchant Name is a 25-character, alphanumeric sub-field containing the merchant name as provided by the signing member or processor.
Merchant Location is a 13-character, alphanumeric sub-field containing the merchant location/city name as provided by the signing member or processor. Direct Marketing merchants must enter the company's customer service telephone number in the left-most 11 positions in the following format to qualify for Custom Payment Services: nnn-nnnnnnn.
Merchant State is a two-digit, alphanumeric sub-field, assigned by the signing member or processor to identify the merchant state/province location.

The Merchant State field must correspond to the state/province abbreviation code printed on the customer receipt and be one of the VISA accepted abbreviations noted in the following table:
