Add Users to a Security Group with a Custom Hierarchy

To add users to a security group with a custom hierarchy:

1. In the e-Connections Authorization and Capture application, create a custom hierarchy.

   To create a custom hierarchy:

   1. From the Reports menu, select Custom Hierarchy.

      

      The Custom Hierarchy Administration page opens.

      

   2. Select Add A Custom Hierarchy.

      The Add Custom Hierarchy page opens.

      

   3. Make sure the Create a Custom Hierarchy option is selected (this is the default).
   4. Enter information in these mandatory fields:
      • Custom Hierarchy Name: A descriptive name for the custom hierarchy that will help you find it when needed.
      • Within this BIN: This is available if you have more than one BIN; enter the BIN for the merchants you want included in the hierarchy.
   5. In the remaining fields, enter appropriate criteria for the merchants you want included in the hierarchy:
      • Within Agent

        The six-digit agent number (or agent numbers, separated by commas) associated with the merchants you want to add to the custom hierarchy.

      • Within Chain

        The chain number (or chain numbers, separated by commas) associated with the merchants you want to add to the custom hierarchy.

      • Merchant ID beginning with

        Enter the full merchant ID number for the merchant you want to add to the custom hierarchy, or enter a partial merchant ID to yield all merchants whose IDs begin with that number.

      • Merchant DBA Name beginning with

        Enter the full merchant doing-business-as (DBA) name for the merchant you want to add to the custom hierarchy, or enter a partial merchant DBA name to yield all merchants whose DBA names begin with those letters.

        You can also enter a number of full merchant DBA names, separated by commas, to yield all those merchants.

      • Located in this State

        From the drop-down list, select the state for the merchants you want included in the hierarchy.

      • Having Zip Code

        The ZIP code for the merchants you want to include in the custom hierarchy.

   6. Select Create Custom Hierarchy.

      Note: If your criteria yield more than 100 merchants, this message box opens:
      
      
      
      Select OK, adjust your criteria accordingly, and select Create Custom Hierarchy again.

      Providing you have entered sufficient criteria, the page refreshes to list the merchants meeting your criteria.

      

   7. Make sure the check box for each merchant you want to include in the custom hierarchy is selected.

      Tip: Select Toggle Checkboxes to clear or select the check boxes for all the merchants listed.

   8. Select Create Custom Hierarchy.
2. Set up a security group with a front-end custom access level.

   To set up a security group with a front-end custom access level:

   1. From the e-Connections Portal Administration menu, select User Admin.

      

      The User Administration page opens.

      

   2. Select Add A Security Group.

      The Add a Security Group page opens.

      

   3. Select I want to create a new Security Group, and then select Continue.

      The Add A Security Group - General Information page opens.

      

   4. Enter information in the fields as follows:
      • Security Group Name: Enter the security group's name.
      • Security Group Description: Enter the security group's description.
      • Security Group Type: Select Other.
      • Status: Select Active.
   5. Select Continue.

      The Add a Security Group - Access Level page opens.

      

   6. In the Access Levels panel, select Other Level.

      The panel expands to list the Other Level options.

   7. From the Front-End options list, select Custom.
   8. From the Back-End options list, select the required options.

      The Add a Security Group - Functions page opens.

      

   9. In the Functions panel, for each function you want to add to the security group, select Add, to open the associated page, select the options you require for that function, and then select Continue.
   10. Once you have added all the functions you want for the security group, select Continue.

       The Add a Security Group - Themes page opens.

       

   11. Select Enable for the themes you want, and select the Default theme, for the security group.
   12. For each theme you have enabled, select Define Preferences to open the Update a Security Group - Theme Preferences page, then make sure the check boxes for all the preferences are selected, and then select Continue.

       

       

       The Add a Security Group - Themes page opens again.

       

   13. Select Finish.
3. Add a user to that security group and assign the custom hierarchy.

   To set up a user assigned to a custom hierarchy:

   1. From the e-Connections Portal Administration menu, select User Admin.

      

      The User Administration page opens.

      

   2. Select Add A User.

      The Add a User page opens.

      

   3. Select I want to create a new User, and then select Continue.

      The Add a User - General Information page opens.

      

   4. Enter the user's details, and select the appropriate Security Group that is set up for front-end custom access level.
   5. Select Continue.

      The Add a User - Access Level page opens.

      

      Note: The Back-End options available will depend on the security group setup.

   6. On the Front-End panel, from the Custom ID drop-down list, select the custom hierarchy you want to assign to this user.
   7. On the Back-End panel, select the back-end options you want to assign to the user.
   8. Select Finish.
