CPD Requirements for MasterCard and Visa
The date on which MasterCard or Visa receives a transaction is called the Central Processing Date (CPD).
For certain transactions to qualify for a specific interchange rate, MasterCard and Visa require receipt of the transaction within two days of the transaction date. This requirement is called
two-day timeliness.
Two-day timeliness means that there are two days between the transaction date and the date that MasterCard or Visa receives the transaction. For example, if the transaction occurs on Monday, MasterCard or Visa must receive the transaction by Thursday, as illustrated in this graphic:

For other transactions, they require receipt within three days of the transaction date. This requirement is called
three-day timeliness.
Three-day timeliness means that there are three days between the transaction date and the date that MasterCard or Visa receives the transaction. For example, if the transaction occurs on Monday, MasterCard or Visa must receive the transaction by Friday, as illustrated in this graphic:
