About context
In Express, you work with entities by keeping them active as you move between the pages. This act of keeping one entity active while browsing between pages is referred to as keeping the entity "in context".
The following actions bring an entity in context:
- Creating a new entity
- Selecting the entity from a search result
- Entering a unique identifier (Merchant Number, for example) into a header field and clicking Reload
- Selecting the entity and clicking an action button (Setup, View or Edit, for example)
Once an entity is in context, it remains in context by default, as long as you are browsing between related pages (For example: terminal pages, merchant pages, bank pages, and so on).
The following actions take an entity out of context:
- Bringing another entity in context through the actions described above.
- Returning to the Express Homepage.
- Successfully submitting an entity.
- Moving from a page related to one entity (terminals, for example) to another (banks, for example).
- The availability of these actions varies according to the type of entity you are working with and your location in Express.
