About groups and associations

Groups and associations are the second and third levels of the back-end hierarchy. Every merchant belongs to an association, while associations and groups can belong to other optional groups. They are used to provide additional structure and detail for back-end reporting. As members of the back-end hierarchy, they inherit characteristics of their parent (bank), and they in turn pass some of their characteristics on to merchants that are below them in the hierarchy.
