RB E14/214 - Non-numeric Merchant Chain

The Merchant Chain is a six-digit field that must be in numeric format. The member uses this field to identify the chain within the member system. Sierra validates the Merchant Chain in the BIN table along with the hierarchical order of BIN, Agent, Merchant, and Store Numbers defined in the BIN key in BIN profile.

Note: The Merchant Chain field can contain zeros.

Possible Cause

Solution

Merchant Chain in the download file is incorrect.
  1. Correct the Merchant Chain.
  2. Retain the batch.
  3. Perform a partial download.
  4. Re-transmit the batch.

The Merchant Chain field may be corrupt in the terminal.

Correct the Merchant Chain and re-transmit.
