The following table lists possible causes and solutions for this error:

Possible Causes	Solutions
Baud speed issue	Change the baud speed and re-transmit.
Phone line issue	Change the phone number the terminal is dialing to the secondary to test. If this doesn't work, change to 18008472821 in the terminal, but leave the file numbers the same.
Terminal corrupt	Perform a master reset and download the terminal if the problem persists.
Unknown	Acquirers: Refer to Merchant Services. Merchants: Escalate to a primary researcher or a supervisor before sending it to Complex Services.

If this is an update from any terminal type in which a manual phone number change cannot be made (HYPERCOM, for example), follow the steps outlined below:

Update the primary EDC phone number to 18008472821 in the DLL file.
Initialize to add the updated phone number to the terminal.
Update the file again to original EDC phone number.
