RB T 843 - Cashback amount not numeric or not valid for received transaction

Cashback is a 12-digit field that is right-justified in the terminal and zero-filled. The range for this field is 000000000001-000009999999. The terminal does not indicate the decimal position of this field.

This is a secondary field required in AMEX restaurant applications and is used for the tip amount. This error occurs in AMEX applications when the tip is greater than the transaction amount or is greater than the amount received for non-purchased transaction. The cashback amount must be numeric. The system validates the data element type and length of this field.

Possible Cause

Solution

A transaction has an incorrect or invalid cashback amount.
  1. Delete the transaction that caused the RB.
  2. Offline the corrected transaction and re-transmit.

If the Delete feature is not available, delete the batch, offline the corrected transactions, and re-transmit.
