RB F08 - Merchant state contains spaces, illegal characters, leading spaces, or invalid merchant state

Merchant State is a two-character, alphanumeric field assigned by the member to identify the merchant state location.

Possible Cause

Solution

The merchant state in the download file is incorrect.
  1. Correct the merchant state and retain the batch.
  2. Perform a partial download and re-transmit the batch.

The terminal data for this field is corrupt.

Verify the merchant state in the terminal.

  • If valid, retain the batch and re-transmit.
  • If invalid, correct the merchant state in the terminal and re-transmit.

The system validates that the merchant state corresponds with the entities on the Merchant States table as noted below:
