Unlock a User

When three consecutive unsuccessful login attempts occur, the user is locked out on the third attempt, regardless of the time elapsed between each attempt.

Note: Unlocking a user account does not change the password; it simply reactivates the existing password. Depending upon the situation, users with the proper permissions can reset a user password, which unlocks the user and also resets the password.

A locked-out user cannot use the password reminder system, so the link Having trouble with your User Name/Password on the login page is not available.

A locked-out user account is not deleted from CBOS. A separate procedure is required to delete a user.

To unlock a user:

  1. From the User Administration menu, select Update A User.

The Select a User page opens.

  2. Enter information for the user to be unlocked. Enter a minimum of three characters in any of these fields.
  3. Select Search.

Search results are listed in the lower part of the page.

  4. From the list of results, select the User ID for the user to be unlocked.

The Update a User - General Information page opens, showing the fields populated.

  5. Select Unlock Account.

The Unlock Account - Confirmation page opens, confirming that the account is unlocked.

  6. Select Continue.
