Close a front-end only merchant account

You can close a front-end only merchant and its associated terminals at the Parameters page.

To do this:

  1. Search for the merchant to display its details on the Merchant Summary page.
  2. In the Merchant Quick Links panel, click Merchant Parameters.

    From the FE Merchant menu, click Parameters.

    The Merchant Parameters page opens.

  3. Click Edit.
  4. From the Status drop-down list, select C - Close.

    A pop-up message opens.

    This indicates that the account status change will also impact the merchant's AMEX Merchant Registration status (if the merchant is registered for American Express OptBlue® in AMEX Merchant Registration) and any terminal records associated with the merchant account.

  5. Click OK and then Validate.

    The Merchant Account Status page opens.

    If the merchant is registered for American Express OptBlue® in AMEX Merchant Registration, you will see that in the Amex Registration panel, the Action setting is set to C-Closed, indicating that the merchant's AMEX Merchant Registration status is now closed.

    Note: If the merchant account is later reopened, the merchant's AMEX Merchant Registration status will only be reopened if its Disposition status is either 1C- AMEX OptBlue or 3E- OptBlue-New Provider.

  6. In the Merchant Terminals panel, from the Action drop-down list for each terminal listed, select the appropriate option for the terminal's new status. Available options are:
