Interchange refers to the merchant's eligibility for and participation in applicable programs for Visa, Mastercard, and Discover billing, and these fields enable you to configure the merchant's participation in these programs:

Note: You can configure interchange settings for full service merchants only. The information in this topic does not apply to front end only merchants.

Visa Eligibility

• Custom Payment Service: From the drop-down list, select the option to specify the Visa Customer Payment Service (CPS) the merchant is eligible for. The options available are:
  • N - No CPS
  • 1 - CPS1
  • 2 - CPS2
• Supermarket (SMKT): Select this check box if the merchant is eligible for Visa's Supermarket (SMKT) status. To qualify for this status, the merchant SIC code must equal 5411 and the merchant must be registered as a Supermarket merchant. Additionally, the card must be magnetic-stripe read for the transaction.
• Electronic Interchange Reimbursement Fee (ERF): Select this check box if the merchant is eligible for this Visa program.
• PSF: Select this check box if the merchant is eligible for Visa's PS2000 Interchange Reimbursement Fee program.
• Purchasing Large Ticket (PLT): Select this check box if the merchant is eligible for this Visa program.
• Merchant Volume (MVI): If the merchant is eligible for this Visa program, enter the Merchant Volume (MVI). Valid values are N, MP, or any 2-digit numeric value. If you enter 00, the value will reset to N.
• Utility (UTL): Select this check box if the merchant is eligible for this Visa program.
• GSA Government Fee Program (G2G): Select this check box if the merchant is eligible for this Visa program.
• Debt Repayment Fee Program (DTR): Select this check box if the merchant is eligible for this Visa program.
• CPS/Debit Tax Payment Fee (TAX): Select this check box if the merchant is eligible for this Visa program.
• CPS/CHarity/Religious Eligibility: Select this check box if the merchant is eligible for this Visa program.
• Small Merchant: Select this check box if the merchant is eligible for this Visa program.

  When selected, this indicates that the merchant is a Visa Qualified Small Merchant business. Visa allows transactions from eligible small merchants to request existing merchant segment interchange rates applicable to tokenized and non-tokenized Visa consumer purchase transactions.

• CEDP Participation: Select this check box if the merchant is eligible for this Visa program.

  From the dropdown list, select the option to indicate multiple levels of participation in the Visa Community Economic Defense Project (CEDP) program for merchants in the US only. The options available are:

  • V: Verified merchant
  • U: Unverified merchant
  • N: Non-participating merchant

Visa Programs

• SMKT / Debit Tier / Credit Tier: If you have specified that the merchant is eligible for Visa's Supermarket (SMKT) status in the Visa Eligibility sub-panel above, select the appropriate Debit Tier and Credit Tier option from the drop-down lists; the options available are:
  • N-No
  • 1-Tier 1
  • 2-Tier 2
  • 3-Tier 3
• Retail / Debit Tier / Credit Tier: If the merchant is eligible for Visa's Retail status, select the appropriate Debit Tier and Credit Tier option from the drop-down lists; the options available are:
  • N-No
  • 1-Tier 1
  • 2-Tier 2
  • 3-Tier 3
• Rec Tele & Cable / Debit Tier / Credit Tier: If the merchant is eligible for Visa's Recur Telecommunications and Cable status, select the appropriate Debit Tier and Credit Tier option from the drop-down lists; the options available are:
  • N-No
  • 1-Tier 1
  • 2-Tier 2
  • 3-Tier 3
• Small Merchant: When selected, this indicates that the merchant is a Visa Qualified Small Merchant business. Visa allows transactions from eligible small merchants to request existing merchant segment interchange rates applicable to tokenized and non-tokenized Visa consumer purchase transactions.

Mastercard Eligibility

• MERIT (MRT): From the drop-down list, select the option to specify the Mastercard MERIT (MRT) status the merchant is eligible for. The options available are:
  • No
  • 1 - Merit 1
  • 3 - Merit 3
• Service Industries Interchange Program (SIIP): Select this check box if the merchant is eligible for this Mastercard program.
• Warehouse Club (WHS): Select this check box if the merchant is eligible for this Mastercard program.
• Category (CAT): Select this check box if the merchant is eligible for this Mastercard program.
• Travel Industries Premier (PRM): Select this check box if the merchant is eligible for this Mastercard program.
• Program Registration ID (PRID): If the merchant is eligible for this Mastercard program, enter the Program Registration ID (PRID). This field accepts 3 alphanumeric characters.
• Small Merchant: When selected, this indicates that the merchant is a Mastercard Qualified Small Merchant business.

Mastercard Programs

• Mastercard Assigned ID: Enter the Mastercard assigned ID.
• Debit Tier / Credit Tier: For each of the following MasterCard special tiered-rate programs, where the merchant is eligible, select the appropriate Debit Tier and Credit Tier option from the drop-down lists:
  • Merit 3
  • SMKT
  • WHS
  • SML TKT
  • COMM SMKT
  • CONV PURCH
  • CNSLOAN (US Banks only)
  • COM RATE A/B (Canadian Banks only)
  • CNS SMKTTIER (Canadian Banks only)
  • CONS TIER (Canadian Banks only)
• Small Merchant: When selected, this indicates that the merchant is a Mastercard Qualified Small Merchant business.

Discover Eligibility

• Interchange (DSQ): From the drop-down list, select one of the following options to specify the merchant's eligibility level for Discover card; this option is used to determine how the transactions for a merchant are qualified when they go through interchange:
  • N - Base
  • M - Mid
  • P - Prime
• Debt Repayment Program (DDR): Select this check box if the merchant participates in Discover’s Debt Repayment Program. This program concerns the repayment of consumer loans including auto loans, student loans, mortgages, and credit card balances occurring in the United States, and is only applicable to MCCs 6012 and 6051.

Other Settings

• Interchange Number: From the drop-down list, select one of the following options to specify how the system will use the number option to accumulate the qualified interchange volume for the merchant:

  • G - Gross
  • B - Both
  • Interchange Dollar: From the drop-down list, select one of the following options to specify how the system will use the dollar option to accumulate the qualified interchange volume for the merchant:

• Vital Reporting Services (VRS): From the drop-down list, select one of the following options to specify if or how the merchant is using TSYS Acquiring Solutions (formerly Vital) Reporting Services:
  • No
  • Yes
  • I - Info Only
• Visa Partner Program (VPP): Select this check box if the merchant is a participant in this program.
• Merchant Verification Value (MVV): If the merchant participates in any Select Merchant Fee (SMF) programs, enter the Merchant Verification Value (MVV) assigned to the merchant. This number is assigned by VISA and the Acquirer.
