Field notes: M

MAID Rate Override: A MasterCard field that determines if a transaction will qualify for a Charities qualification. Valid values are Y and N. If the MAID Rate Override field set to Y, then the MasterCard Assigned ID (MAID) field is mandatory.

Mail/Phone Processing: Indicates that the merchant processes mail or phone orders.

Maintenance Date: (AMEX Setup) Date indicating the Maintenance date for the Maintenance account.

Mail Key: Requires the terminal user to enter a password to enter a mail or phone order using a specified key on the terminal.

Management Review: Indicates that a management review of the credit application is needed or has been received.

Manager Name: The business manager's name.

Manager Password: Allows for a customized password for any management reports. For the Jigsaw Profile Build page, indicates the manager's four-digit password.

Manager Password Configuration: The terminal will require a password when this function is selected from the terminal.

Manual Programming Check: Allows a merchant or a bank representative to add a check service that is not added at the terminal level.

Manual Entry Allowed: Enables the merchant to manually enter credit card numbers.

Manual Entry Password: When selected, this check box enables a password on all manually-entered transactions.

Manufacturer: The name of the terminal manufacturer.

Market Specific Data: The option selected from the drop-down list indicates what additional transaction information is supplied with the transaction. This data is required for some CPS transactions. If this field is blank, no market specific data is supplied. The available options are:

Marketing Indicator: When this check box is selected, it enables American Express direct mail, newsletters, or messages about products, services and resources to be sent to the merchant. Communications may also be sent via inbound telephone, email, fax, website and any other means identified by sales channel. If the merchant does not enable this option, they may still receive messages from American Express regarding services and programs designed to enhance the value of the American Express Network.

Marketing Material: Indicates that marketing materials are needed or have been received.

Mask: Used to indicate the terminal's subnet mask.

Master V Number (Terminal Setup page): If required, enter the master V number for this terminal. The field label already provides the upper case V, so you only need to enter the seven digit number.

MasterCard Contact Floor Limit (Terminal VAR Details page): The dollar amount below which the EMV MasterCard transaction can be processed offline if the chip allows.

MasterCard Contact Max % (Terminal VAR Details page): The maximum percentage of random EMV MasterCard transactions that can go offline.

MasterCard Contact Min % (Terminal VAR Details page): The minimum number of random EMV MasterCard transactions that can go offline.

Mastercard MCC: The merchant's four-digit Merchant Category Code (MCC) for Mastercard.

Maximum Amount: For POS Check transactions, this field indicates the maximum amount a merchant can enter for a particular conversion type. Valid conversion types include: Conversion Only, Conversion with Verification, and Conversion with Guarantee. This is not currently supported by TSYS Acquiring Solutions.

Maximum Number of Adjustments: The maximum number of adjustments that can be made to a transaction in the batch.+

M/C Business Format Code: The MasterCard business format code used by the MCC code.

MC Assigned ID: MasterCard assigned identification number. This is a dual purpose field that supports the processing of MasterCard Private Label and MasterCard Healthcare transactions.

MC ISO ID: An identification number (up to 11 digits) assigned by MasterCard to registered Independent Sales Organizations (ISOs).

MCC: The Merchant Category Code, which indicates the merchant's industry.

MCC Format Code: This is an American Express code that identifies the type of MCC code. Possible values:

As the MCC Format Code is stored as part of the MCC Code, it appears on all transactions, but only American Express use it for processing, and only then when it is an American Express Direct purchase.

MCFS: The Merchant Central File Service number. This field enables the terminal to process AMEX and Discover authorizations.

MCFS Number: The value in this field translates the Visa/MC ID attached to an AMEX or Discover authorization to their respective AMEX or Discover ID Numbers. For clients who are configured to automatically complete this field, the MCFS Number is made up of the 12-digit Merchant ID,  plus the first three digits of the Store Number. If your bank generates its own MCFS Number, you can enter it manually in this field. For the terminal details page, this number is derived from the request page.

Media Type: Identifies the type of authorization. This field identifies the media type, which is the method used to transmit an authorization, such as an audio response until (ARU).

Membership Fee Amount: The fee charged for Discover account membership.

Member ID: The merchant's eight-character member identification number.

Memory Dialing: Enables the terminal to speed-dial pre-programmed phone numbers.

Merchant ABA Number: The American Banker's Association number for the merchant; a nine-digit number that identifies the merchant with a debit network. If you do not know the ABA number, you can enter nine zeros in this field.

Merchant Account Self Check Method: The method used to validate the merchant account.

Merchant Boarded Date/Time: The date and time at which the merchant was boarded.

Merchant Configuration: The terminal will require a password when this function is selected from the terminal.

Merchant Email Address: The Merchants email address. This is an optional field that, if entered, must be written in standard email format (example@example.com).

Merchant ID: The 12-digit Visa or MasterCard Merchant ID that was entered on the Request page.

Merchant ID Selection: Merchant identifier used to determine the merchant through which the application is processing transactions. In the POS-Port Profile Build page, a 3-digit code used to determine which Merchant the software will process under for multi merchant.

Merchant Name: The name of merchant's business. This information carries over into the actual file-build and prints on the terminal receipt if the merchant uses a printer.

Merchant Number: The 16-digit merchant number used in routing chargebacks and retrievals. On the Work In Progress page, the Merchant ID associated with Work In Progress record. When generating reports for front-end only merchants, this is the merchant number (non-Vital).

Merchant Number (Non-Vital): This 16-character alpha-numeric field identifies the back-end processor for a front-end only merchant. If you do not enter a value, the value from POS Merchant ID automatically populates this field.

Merchant Number Adjustment: The number of digits prefixed before the core merchant account number.

Merchant Number Display: The display pattern for the merchant account number to appear on the statement.

Merchant Number Length: The length of the merchant account number with prefix (ID number).

Merchant Number To Copy: The merchant number to use when creating a new merchant by copying an existing merchant.

Merchant PCI Compliance: The Merchant PCI (Payment Card Industry) indicator when selected enables access to the Merchant PCI Compliance page. Values: Y = Make the Merchant PCI Compliance pages available for this Merchant, N = Hide the Merchant PCI Compliance pages from this Merchant.

Merchant Phone: The merchant's phone number.

Merchant Prefix Number: The prefix of the merchant account. The prefix must be approved by TSYS Acquiring Solutions.

Merchant Receipt Truncation: When selected, this check box indicates that the account number will be truncated on the merchant's receipt.

Merchant Return Address From: Determines where the return address on merchant statement should be obtained.

Merchant Settlement Agent (FIID): The four-character identification number assigned by the Debit Gateway.

Merchant Status: The overall status of the merchant account, which appears on the header of every merchant page in edit mode. Possible values are:

Merchant Targets: The number of merchants to target. You can target a maximum of 32 merchants. Targeting the same merchant twice will result in an error.

Merchant Token Requestor ID: The required Visa-assigned ID for a merchant participating in Network Tokenization. This ID comprises 36 characters (acceptable characters are 0-9, A-F, and a-f) separated by hyphens in this format: ########-####-####-####-############

Merchant Type: The merchant's industry sector. In some Express pages and reports, indicates whether the merchant is front-end only (FEO), back-end only (BEO), or full service (FS).

Merchant URL: The developer's web site.

Merchant Verification Value (MVV): The Merchant Verification Value is a 10-digit number used to identify merchants that participate in SMF (Select Merchant Fee) programs. This 10-digit number is assigned to the merchant. The first 6-digits of this number are assigned by VISA and the last 4-digits are defined by the acquirer, in agreement with VISA.

Merchant Volume (MVI): Indicates that the merchant is eligible for this program.

Merchant Web Site: The merchant's web site address (URL). This is an optional field. If entered it must be standard URL format: http://www.example.com.

MERIT (MRT): Indicates that the merchant is eligible for this program.

Merit 3: A MasterCard merchant interchange program.

Message: An area reserved to notify you of the current state of terminal to replicate.

Message Id: A 6-digit numeric identification number to help you identify the bank statement message.

Message Text: The message that displays on the representment documentation to the issuer.

Message Types to be Certified (Terminal VAR Details page): From the list, select each type of messaging the POS device has been certified for.

MET: The Merchant Exception Table number assigned to the merchant. This is a four-digit user-defined field. 0000 is a valid entry.

MET Default: The MET number that will be used automatically when a SIC range is added. If no MET Default is assigned, the MET Overall Default will be used.

MET Overall Default: The table number that is used automatically if the client does not define SIC code ranges, or if the merchant SIC code does not fall within a predefined range. If the client does not set up a default overall table, the system assigns 0000, and the merchant is not assigned to an exception table.

Method: The manner in which a merchant discount is applied.

M.I.: The middle initial of a principal associated with the merchant.

MIF Location Code: The Merchant Information File Location Code; this is an alternative identifier for a terminal within a BIN.

Minimum: The minimum per item discount.

Minimum After Increase: A minimum dollar threshold that must be met before the current daily activity to be considered an exception.

Minimum Amount: For POS Check transactions, this field indicates the minimum amount a merchant can enter for a particular conversion type. Valid conversion types include: Conversion Only, Conversion with Verification, and Conversion with Guarantee. This is not currently supported by TSYS Acquiring Solutions.

Minimum Discount: The overall minimum discount rate. If the operator does not override the minimum discount rate at the merchant level, the rate shown in this field is applied.

Minimum By Plan: The minimum amount that a merchant pays as a discount, even if the calculated discount is less than this amount.

MMS Count: Indicates the number of MMS table records updated in the MMS backfeed count file.

MMS Table Name: Indicates the name of the MMS table in the MMS backfeed count file.

Mobile Percentage: The average percentage of mobile wireless coverage.

Mod 10: Enables the terminal to validate the credit card number.  This should always be enabled for credit cards and should always be disabled for Debit/ATM cards.

Mod 10 Check Account Number: Enables the terminal to validate the credit card number. This should always be enabled for credit cards and should always be disabled for Debit/ATM cards.

Model: The name of the terminal model in use.

Model Software Processor: Indicates the model name, software version, and the front-end processor for the terminal.

Modem Mode: Indicates the ba ud speed for authorization and capture.

Modem Type: Indicates the type of modem that the terminal uses.

Modem Model: Indicates the model of modem that the terminal uses.

Modifier Date/Time: The user ID, date, and timestamp for the individual that last modified the Work in Progress record. This is not the last time the submitted record was modified.

Monthly Management Control Summary By Plan Report: Indicates that the user will receive the Monthly Management Control Summary by Plan Report.

Monthly Management Control Summary Report: Indicates that the user will receive the Monthly Management Control Summary Report.

Monthly Payment Amount: The amount of the lease, in monthly payments.

Months: The months in which a merchant is charged.

Months for Next Call: The number of months between the last call and the next call.

Months to Delay: A value of 1 through 12 indicating the number of months to delay between seasonal charges.

Moto Transaction Indicator: Indicates that the original transaction was a mail or telephone order.

MOTO: Mail Order / Telephone Order.

MRT (MERIT): Indicates that the merchant is eligible for this program.

MSR Name: The merchant sales representative's name.

Multicurrency Funding: Allows a client to set up a merchant to participate in multicurrency funding and to define the timing (the processing day) of the currency rate to use to fund the merchant.

MVV: See Merchant Verification Value.

MVI: See Merchant Volume.
