Combine store descriptors

Express allows you to combine store descriptor records that share a front-end hierarchy, but have different store descriptor information (such as Address, or DBA Name). Combining store descriptors standardizes this information and updates all child terminal records automatically.

To combine store descriptors:

1. If a merchant's terminal is not already in context, search for a terminal.

   To search for a terminal:

   1. Open the Advanced Search - Merchant Search page.

      Express enables you to locate submitted front-end entities using hierarchy and demographic information. To search for a front-end entity, open to the Advanced Search - Merchant Search page, then enter search criteria based on the entity you are trying to find.

      Note: Search results are validated against the permissions associated with your User ID. If your search does not return the expected result, ensure that your search criteria are valid, then verify with your System Administrator that you have the appropriate level of access.
      Note: If the search date range specifies the current date as either the starting date or the ending date, the search results will include requests logged for the current day.

      To open the Advanced Search - Merchant Search page:

      1. From the Express Homepage, click the Advanced Search link.

         Tip: Click Main to open the Express Homepage.

         

         -or-

         From the Admin menu, click Advanced Search.

         

         The Advanced Search - Merchant Search page opens.

         

   2. From the Front-end Entity drop-down list, select Terminal.

      

   3. Click Select.

      The Advanced Search - Front-End Search page opens.

   4. In the BIN field, enter a valid BIN number; to narrow your search, enter values in the following fields:
      • Agent
      • Chain
      • POS Merchant Id
      • Store Number
      • Terminal Number
      • V Number

        Note: If you have user privileges to more than one BIN, entering a BIN will narrow your search.

   5. Click Search.

      A table of matching values displays. This table contains V Number, BIN Number, POS Merchant ID, Merchant Name, Store ID, and Terminal Number.

   6. To view details for a terminal, click the value in the V Number column of the record that you want to view.
2. From any of the merchant's Terminal-related screens, from the Quick Links menu, click Store Descriptor Information.

   

   The Store Descriptor Information page opens.

   

3. Click the Edit button.
4. Select the To check box to select one record. This record will serve as the master record into which all other selected records will be combined.
5. Select the From check box to select each record that you want to combine with the selected To record.
6. Click the Combine button.

   

   A table appears that displays all of the terminals that will be affected by this action.

   

7. Click the Board button.
