Obtain an AMEX Franchise CAP number

Note: You cannot assign an AMEX Franchise CAP number to a merchant if it already has an AMEX SE number assigned to it.

You would typically obtain an AMEX Franchise CAP number for a merchant that would be considered the head quarter location for a chain. Once you receive the CAP number from AMEX for that merchant, you can then assign it to other merchants in the chain as you set them up for AMEX.

To obtain an AMEX Franchise CAP number for a merchant that would be considered the head quarter location for a chain:

  1. From the Admin menu, select AMEX Franchise, and then click New AMEX Franchise CAP.

The Franchise Setup (1) screen opens.

  2. Enter the details of the merchant in the fields provided; fields marked with a red asterisk are mandatory.

    -or-

If the merchant in question has already been partly set up in Express (but not yet set up for AMEX), in the Merchant Number field, enter the Merchant number for the merchant you want to obtain the CAP number for, and then click the Import button. The fields on the screen are populated with that merchant's data.

  3. At the bottom of the Franchise Setup (1) screen, click the Next button to open the Franchise Setup (2) screen, and then continue to enter details there as necessary.
  4. Click the Submit to Vendor button to apply for the AMEX Franchise CAP number and SE number.
