RB 417/A17/B17/G17/H17 - Invalid AVS Code

The AVS code is a one-character alphanumeric field. The AVS code is an Address Verification code used to verify Cardholder Identification for mail order transactions.

Possible Cause

Solution

Invalid AVS code.

Delete/void the transaction that invoked an RB.
Offline the corrected transaction and re-transmit.

Note: If the delete/void feature is not available, delete the batch, offline corrected transactions, and re-transmit.

Sierra validates the AVS code corresponds with the following:

A	Address only match
E	Error
N	No address or zip match
R	System unavailable - retry
S	Not supported
U	Information unavailable
W	9 digit zip only match
X	Address and 9 digit zip match
Y	Address and 5 digit zip match
