RB 312/F12 - City code is not numeric

Merchant City Code is a five-digit field assigned by the member to identify the merchant city location. This field must be numeric and cannot contain spaces or illegal alphanumerics. The system validates the data element type of this field.

Possible Causes

Solutions

The merchant city code (ZIP code) is incorrect.

Merchants: Escalate the issue to research.

Acquirers: Correct the download file, retain the batch in the terminal, perform a partial download, and re-transmit.

The terminal data for this field is corrupt.

Verify the merchant city code in the terminal.

  • If valid, retain the batch and re-transmit.
  • If invalid, perform a partial download, retain the batch, and re-transmit.
