RB 618 - Non-numeric merchant chain

Merchant Chain is a six-digit field that must be numeric and can contain all zeros. The member uses this field to identify the chain within the member system. The system validates the merchant chain in the BIN table, along with the hierarchical order of BIN, agent, merchant, and store numbers defined in the BIN key in the BIN profile.

Possible Causes

Solutions

Incorrect merchant chain in the download file.
  1. Correct the merchant chain and retain the batch.
  2. Perform a partial download and re-transmit the batch.

The terminal data for this field may be corrupt.

Verify the merchant chain in the terminal.

  • If valid, retain the batch and re-transmit.
  • If invalid, correct the merchant chain in the terminal and re-transmit.
