RB K08 - Merchant chain number non-numeric or incorrect

Merchant Chain Number is a six-digit field that must be numeric. This number is assigned by the signing member or processor, and the member uses this field to identify the merchant chain within the member system.

The system validates the merchant chain number in the BIN table, along with the hierarchical order of BIN, agent, merchant, store, and terminal numbers defined in the BIN key in the BIN profile.

Incorrect merchant chain number in the download file
  1. Correct the merchant chain number and retain the batch.
  2. Perform a partial download and re-transmit the batch.

The terminal data for this field may be corrupt.

Verify the merchant chain number in the terminal.

  • If valid, retain the batch and re-transmit.
  • If invalid, correct the merchant chain number in the terminal and re-transmit.
