Advanced Search

To perform an advanced search:

1. Select Advanced Search:

   The Advanced Merchant Search page opens:

   

2. Select either the Boarded Merchant Search or the Pended Merchant Search option, as required.

   Note: The availability of these buttons is based upon security group and user permissions.

3. Select the Bank and BIN number from the drop-down lists for the merchant you are searching for.

   A six-digit number that identifies a client bank. A BIN is assigned by TSYS Acquiring Solutions and is the highest level of the front-end hierarchy. The front-end hierarchy is used by TSYS Acquiring Solutions to route an authorization or batch to the correct acquirer. BINS contain agents, the second level of the front-end hierarchy.

   A four-digit number assigned by TSYS Acquiring Solutions to identify the banks that a client has configured for processing.

4. Enter information in one or more of these fields for the merchant you are searching for:
   • Merchant ID

     The 12-digit Visa or MasterCard merchant ID.

   • DBA Name / Legal Name / DBA & Legal Name: Select the appropriate option from the drop-down list. In the adjacent field, enter 3 to 32 characters of the name.

     The legal name of the merchant.

     The Doing Business As (DBA) name of the merchant as it is registered. It must be entered exactly as registered. If the name is longer than 20 characters, enter the first 20 characters including spaces. Do not abbreviate the merchant name.

   • V Number

     A unique identification number applied to terminals.

   • Association Number

     A six-digit number identifying the association connected to the merchant. Associations are used to provide additional structure and detail for back-end reporting.

   • DBA Phone

     The merchant's Doing Business As (DBA) telephone number (followed by their extension number in the Ext field).

   • Primary Owner Name / Secondary Owner Name / Primary & Secondary Owners: Select the appropriate option from the drop-down list. In the adjacent field, enter 3 to 32 characters of the name.
   • Tax ID
   • City
   • State/Province
   • Terminal Serial Number

     Note: If you selected the Pended Merchant Search button, only the Merchant ID, DBA Name, V Number, Association Number, and DBA Phone fields are available.

5. Select Search
   • If the search returns a single match, the information for that merchant displays, showing the Merchant Summary tab.
   • If multiple merchants meet the search criteria, the Advanced Merchant Search page opens, showing the search results.

     Note: Select any of column headers in the Advanced Merchant Search page to sort the list in ascending and descending order. For more information about headers and sorting, refer to Related Topics below.

6. From the list of search results, select the name in the DBA Name column to bring that merchant into context.

   The Merchant Summary tab for that merchant opens.
